In 1928, The Des Moines Register wrote and article stating “The Foursquare Gospel Lighthouse signed a lease yesterday afternoon giving the lighthouse possession of the Grace Methodist church building at a monthly rental of $75”. At the end of six months the church officials would be given first choice of purchasing a building for $30,000.

Willard Ho secured the old Grace Methodist Church at 19th and Crocker and Dr. Sandy became the first Sunday school superintendent. The people of 19th and Crocker became known as the lighthouse people.

On March 19, 1928, The Des Moines Register started a series of 12 articles giving Sister Aimee’s life story. The daily register carried pictures of Mrs. McPherson and debated the headlines.
