The church was once again left empty when the building at Beaver and Hickman was finished in 1967.

As the people of First Church of the Open Bible moved west the Spirit of God began stirring on the east side of Des Moines. Pastor D.L. Browning had moved from southern Wisconsin to take the pastorate of a small Spirit-filled church east of the river called Echoes of Calvary.

After acquiring the empty church on 19th and Crocker, the name Kingsway Cathedral was soon adopted for the budding church. Kingsway Bible School followed shortly after the congregation’s name change.

Kingsway International was born out of need to facilitate a true fellowship for the ministries and pastors being launched from the young organization.
